11/20/03 - Caller Phil Kandrut, son of Stan Kandrut (both square dance callers), passed away last evening due to what they believe was a massive heart attack. Phil was the singer on the records Helen and Weapon of Prayer. He was only 53 years old. Phil called for square dancers for over 30 years in New England. He also lived and called in Virginia. 10/20/03 - Cuer Jim Connelly was in a fatal car accident on Saturday, 10/18^th ( per Warren Johnston, Country Corner Squares, Lyndonville, Vt.) Jim's son, Paul, was with him. Paul received only bruises and is sore but alright. As of Monday morning, the family is not planning on any calling hours. The funeral will be at The North Congregational Church on Main Street, Saint Johnsbury, Vt., on Sunday, October 26,2003. Please remember if you would like to attend the funeral that daylight savings time ends on Sunday, so be sure to adjust your clock on Saturday. We are going to try to have space reserved for our friends to sit together, so please try to be there early. 07/17/03 - The Massachusetts Square and Round Dance Center in Chicopee, Massachusetts, has been sold and will no longer be available as a dance venue. Notices informing all clubs using the hall to remove their property by July 24, 2003 have been posted. The Merry-Go-Rounds (Roy and Janet Williams) dance on Wednesday, July 23, will be the last dance at the MSRDC. Theme: Going Away Party.

Each year square and round dancing gets more and more dancers without partners. They may be single dancers, divorced or widowed dancers, or married dancers whose partner is not able to dance.

These dancers are usually welcome at their own dance club, but are often uncomfortable dancing at other clubs or special dances. Now there is an answer with PARTNER REQUEST!
